Project Description

The AWT2 Carbon Addition Facilities project, led by WDF’s Specialty GC division, has provided three additional buildings and renovated the two existing buildings for five different New York City Department of Environmental Protection Water Treatment Facilities. The Wards Island, Bowery Bay, Tallman Island, 26th Ward, and Jamaica Waste Water Treatment Plants located throughout Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn, were designed to house control rooms, MCC rooms, and pump facilities feeding Glycerol from twenty-six 12,000-gallon stainless steel tanks. The trade work associated with the improvements included heavy plumbing and mechanical piping, fire suppression, electrical feed and distribution, and structural steel. The project’s civil site work included excavation, site clearing and demolition, masonry wall construction, complete roofing systems, foundation installation, and custom metal exterior siding.
